My work centers on the various ways in which we try to manage our engagements with the natural world. I'm particularly interested in our (mostly unconscious) tendency to project ourselves and our expectations onto nature and our attempts to mold nature to meet these expectations.

In my most recent work I explore my sense that many of us really only experience nature in passing and at a remove. These photographs of trees were taken on the move; mostly from cars, buses and on a trolley tour of a botanical garden. In this way I sought to lend to the trees a frenetic quality emblematic of my own harried life and how it circumscribes my contact with nature.
